| Activities and Sport in Hawaii Hawaii is home to a diverse range of activities and extreme sports, where the island spirit of daring and adventure takes over. In Hawaii if there is a mountain it is de rigueur to scale it, if there is a volcano, to climb it, if there is a jungle, to explore it, if there is a wilderness, to hike it, if there is an ocean, to conquer it – and so on. |
A plethora of water sports and aquatic activities from scuba diving and snorkeling to windsurfing, kiteboarding, canoeing and kayaking take full advantage of the ocean and waterways. Surfing of course is the sport of kings in Hawaii. Skydiving and hang gliding are also extremely popular. Hiking, biking, trekking or riding through the wilderness are the best ways to get up close with nature. Golfing and tennis in beautiful tropical surrounds constitute much of the ground activity, but the opportunity for playing ball sports and the like exist in many county beach parks and reserves that offer full facilities for working up a sweat. |
