Once an ancient place of refuge, Laie is the centre of the Mormon community in Hawaii and is home to the Brigham Young University and the fifth oldest Mormon temple in the world.

On any given day the beaches that front the town will be buzzing with bodysurfers, windsurfers and kitesurfers. Pounders - (named for its infamous shorebreaks) is especially popular for getting dumped whilst seeking out the 'perfect' wave for bodysurfing.

Awards

  • Surf, windsurf and bodysurf the 1.5m of beach fronting the town.
  • Enjoy economical and tasty food at small, friendly cafes and eateries.
  • Take a tram tour of a smaller replica of the Mormon temple at Salt Lake City.
  • Visit the 7 theme-island villages of the immense Mormon-owned Polynesian Cultural Center.
  • Stay on for the sumptuous Ali’Luau (buffet) and evening show.
