Here the narrow road hugs the coastline and towering cliffs on the other side offset the tiny town that comprises of not much more than a few houses, a convenience store, a gas station and a post office opposite the fishing opportunities offered by Swanzy Beach Park.

Nearby is the Crouching Lion, forged out of the rocky cliff-face and the stuff of Hawaiian legend born of traditional myth and mystery.

Whilst small in demeanor Ka’a’awa is a charming stop-off point in exploration of the Windward Coast.

Things to do

  • Do the done thing and try to discern the features of the Crouching Lion in the cliff opposite the Inn.
  • Take time out to enjoy a leisurely lunch or a sunset dinner from the terrace bar at the lovely restaurant.
  • Visit the nearby sacred Kualoa Regional Park with its striking coastal scenery and offshore attractions.
  • Take a turn through Kahana Valley and explore historical sites and shrines amid streams and forest.
