West of Waikiki, the Ala Moana area holds Honolulu’s biggest beach park, the largest shopping center complex, the ever-busy bus terminal, a huge array of cafes, restaurants, galleries, temples and museums – and of course the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Swimming is safe here and Magic Island is a summer surf hotspot affording picture-perfect sunsets over Ala Wai Yacht Harbor.
