Traditionally Wailuku had a rich religious and political history that has given rise to many buildings and sites being listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It remains the center of government administration in Maui today.
Whilst it is definitely not geared toward tourism it is interesting for its unique antique shops, beautiful orchid gardens and faithfully restored relics of the past.
Nightlife is limited due to a certain rough element but a number of cheap, quality eateries invite lunchtime indulgence.
