A wet-weather playground for 4WD enthusiasts in particular, Nahiku is where Hanawi Stream winds its pristine way through the tiny township that once was host to flourishing taro cultivations before giving way to the considerable weight of the rubber industry.
Whilst the progressiveness of the region was somewhat undermined by the diversion of the stream, and the failure of most crops prompted mass movement, it is now an almost untouched paradise of beautiful scenery with waterfalls cascading into deep mineral pools and sweeping vistas of its magnificent surrounds.
