Al West's Maui Windsurfing Vans 

We rented a 3-6 yr old van to save a few bucks. Big mistake! Our flight arrived late so our van was parked at the airport for us. We were disgusted when we got inside as it smelled awful & it was filthy. The exterior of the van was no better. The passenger side mirror was hanging off and the rest of the vehicle looked like it had been in a demolition derby! The brakes were squealing and spongy. The fan only worked on one speed. Spend the extra $100 and go somewhere else!!

We have used Al West multiple times and have had wonderful experiences. Once we didn't get our reservations in too soon and they helped us with an old surfer van. We were just glad to have wheels. The van broke down and they came immediately to get us...in Makena, take us back and get a different car. Another time, we needed the car for a couple of extra days and they were great to work with. We use them whenever we go to Maui. Yahoo...Al West!

I had a horrible experience with Maui vans, one of the worst in all of the times I have travelled. I booked through their site two weeks before the trip, called to confirm immediately after booking (and was verbally confirmed), only to show up at the airport and have them tell me they cancelled my reservation!!

When I asked them how they tried to contact me to let me know they said, "I think we tried to call you?", which was an obvious lie. I told them I had called and confirmed and the salesperson on the phone called me a liar and became ridiculously rude.

There were no rental cars available in Maui, as they have a shortage right now, so we were stranded for our entire trip. It cost us hundreds of dollars in taxi fares, and we did not get to do any of the excursions we had planned on.

Do not use Maui Vans if you want to have a rental in Maui!

Weeks before my trip I booked a van through Maui Windsurfing Vans to use while camping in Maui. I was really fooled by these guys web site with their "Guarantees" of service. Even though the daily rate was some -what pricey (compared to a car), I wanted the convenience of a van for camping, so I spent the time to fill out their form, gave my credit card number and received a confirmation number. It was promised the van would come with cooler, a wash down hose and beach chairs.

1 day before my trip I received an email saying my reservation was cancelled! It was way too late to book another vehicle on line-it was a long weekend and everything was booked.

Because I had a confirmation number I was sure they were mistaken so I called again once I was in Maui. They were short, rude and surly on the phone and had zero consideration for the trouble they were causing me.

We ended up having to rent an ordinary car at the airport in Maui at last minutes rates for over $100.00 a day (It was a long weekend so cars were in short supply). Then we had to go buy a tent and cooler to camp with!

This company cost me well over $700.00 in additional costs and priceless amounts of aggravation. Not the best way to start a holiday.

I don't recommend them. Book with a large company that you can trust.
