Nancy Emerson School of Surfing is Hawaii's first surfing institution, based in Lahaina on the island of Maui. This international school was established in 1973 by Hawaii's Nancy Emerson, who is the world authority and originator of the ‘learn to surf in one lesson’ technique.
Focusing on the complete surf experience, the school places a strong emphasis on water safety, ocean awareness and surfing etiquette. Coaches have a keen eye for the subtle aspects of form and style, with a specialty in developing a proper foundation for the beginner and first-time surfers, as well as providing the tools and techniques to help hone the skills of even the most experienced surfer.
Nancy offers private and group lessons as well as one week surf clinics, open to all ages and levels from five years old up to people in their 80's. Teaching is based on positive reinforcements, and first time students are guaranteed to be up and riding waves in their first class!
