Situated just a hop, skip and a jump away from Lihu’e is sleepy little Hanama’ulu, steeped in legend for its hero warrior Kawelo who fearsomely speared his way around town against transgressors in bygone days when the world was a bit wilder!
By contrast, the Hanama’ulu of today is a lot more sedate, offering respite from the heat at its deep, breakwater-protected bay, camping at its beach park, an enterprising and unique adventure tour and some surprisingly fine Japanese cuisine.
